Week Word: Synesthesia

I have the pleasure of being this week’s week word host!
So many words, so many possibilities!! I thought a lot about this choice. Since I play the violin, paint in colors, love to eat and cook vegetarian, and am passionate about the the feel of fabric and fibers, I chose the word synesthesia. According to my online dictionary, synesthesia means ‘the production of a sense impression relating to one sense or part of the body by stimulation of another sense or part of the body.
• the poetic description of a sense impression in terms of another sense, as in “a loud perfume” or “an icy voice.”
In my reading, I have come across phrases of description that use 2 senses juxtaposing to make a strong point. Also, I have always found it interesting that there are people who associate colors with music, taste, text, etc. So, there is the challenge to all week word bloggers and anyone else who would like to participate!!
Here is the deal, Weekword is a creative challenge that gets passed around the internet and each week a new blogger is asked to host and chooses a new word to inspire others to share their response. You can do anything: from poetry to photography to pottery to pensive ramblings. Whatever happens is good as long as it prompts you to do, to make, to create and then to share.
