Inspiration Thursday, Looking and Seeing

I was listening the other day to NPR while driving, a favorite pastime of mine (NPR, not driving!), I heard an author talk about how artists see. It got me thinking about looking at the world. This gentleman was talking about how we see more acutely almost without thinking, a mindfulness to looking and seeing. It is true, not all the time, of course, that would be way too exhausting. Many times when looking out the window or walking into someone’s house, I notice the patterns, the colors, the visual details. I think it makes me admire and appreciate little nuances that other people may overlook. The pink lining in the cloud before sunset while driving on the expressway, the amazing prints in my doctor’s office, the leaves outside the window while drinking coffee. It is all there, we just have to look and see.
