Love the Flowers and the Ocean

Being at the Jersey Shore this weekend got me thinking about what my next ocean painting should be. I love painting on my new watercolor canvases and have been wanting to paint a still life with my recently acquired aqua pottery vase. I had brought down some hydrangeas from our garden to put in the colorful vase. Walking on the boardwalk gave me the idea to take some photos of the vase with the hydrangeas in it with the water scene in the background.

I always loved paintings that had a close up of an object or figure and something beautiful in the background. Matisse did that as well as many other less well known artists. Now off to my studio…
