Week Word: Amuse

Woody Allen

This week’s word is AMUSE, chosen by June’s Blog, go and take a look at her sight and what other bloggers have to say about this word.
Amuse, this is a word obviously about being humored, having fun, perhaps chuckling to yourself. I think about amuse as almost a private word, hearing or seeing something that amuses you, but perhaps no one else. So here is my list of some art and people that amuse me. First of all, all of Woody Allen’s stand up comedy and films from his early period.
Saturday Night Live

SNL

Now there is the art that amuses me, here is a sampling. Modigliani’s women with long necks, now really, what was he thinking?

Modigliani

Some of Picasso’s portraits, hope his model had a sense of humor!

And the surrealists, weird stuff, often amusing, to me anyway.

You have to wonder what some of these artists were thinking when they were painting in their studio that day!

What do you find amusing?

Love this! Where’s Heironymus Bosch? So many artists to explore, all so complex & talented… and then we get to be our own, too :-)
P.S. I did a self portrait with a long neck once. Try it & be a Modigliani? Fun!

I remember really enjoying one of Woody’s movies, I think it was Sleeper or something like that.  Sometimes I think artists produce work just for the soul purpose of messing with people.  For their own private amusement, if you will.
I don’t have a host yet for next week. I’m asking around and will post it as soon as I know.
