A Day in the Life…..

On Tuesdays I plan on giving everyone a glimpse into my life as an artist. What I am working on in my studio, my thought processes, etc. If you have any suggestions or questions for further posts about this, please let me know!!

Fruit still life

I am in the beginnings of writing a vegetarian cookbook, illustrated by moi! So I am starting a series of small paintings about food. I have several done already and many recipes, so I am on the road.

I wanted to do a painting involving fruit, a simple still life. It is the winter, so citrus and bananas were readily available. I set up a still life on my table with the natural light coming in from the back.

Here is my initial sketch. You will see later on that I decided to make the orange smaller, it was way too big in this rendering.

What I love about painting, especially watercolors, are the images appearing on the paper, almost seems magical!!

Finished painting, now I better think of some tasty  bananas and citrus recipes!!
