A Day in the Life: Being Creative, Teaching, and Technology
I taught my adult summer watercolor class this evening. It was a lot of fun as usual. One of the students brought a vintage vase filled with sunflowers and hydrangeas from her garden for us to paint from. It was so stimulating to paint from such color! I started taking pictures of the bouquet from my new iPhone. I love to paint from photographs. It is part of my creative journaling process to photograph things that I think are beautiful in my everyday life so that I can paint from them in the future.
I then remembered this cool application that I downloaded on my phone that transforms photos to polaroid looking photos. It gives it an old fashioned feel. So cool! It makes another version of an awesome still life. We talked in my class about painting and the variation of light that can occur, which is what is happening in these photos, different light, different mood.
Give it a try if you are able. Technology offers a lot of opportunities to be creative and expand your limits.
