A Day in the Life: Wet into Wet Watercolors
Oh, did we ever have fun in our watercolor class tonight! We got to play! My class concentrated on wet into wet watercolor techniques. Wet into wet painting in watercolor is so free and creative, lots of juicy color and plenty of imagination!!
One method we tried was to completely wet our watercolor paper and drop blobs of color on it. We then let it dry( which happened quickly since it was 102 when I arrived at class!!) and then go into the painting with lots of color and lines, making an abstract colorful painting.
This is a wonderful freeing way to paint when you can’t come up with any fresh still life ideas. Just set up your palette with plenty of paint, wet your paper, drop lots of color on it, let it completely dry, then go into it to define the piece. It is lots of fun and will look great!
Below is a wet into watercolor I did from a garden scene a few years ago.
I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday weekend! The regular Monday column of Food is Good recipes will resume next Monday!
