Inspiration Thursday: Children
I do believe inspiration for being creative can be found everywhere. However, one of the purest places to look to get inspired is children. Young children especially have no regard for rules of design, what something is supposed to look like, when not to truly express yourself. It all comes from within with a child, they tell it like it seems to them.
Take playing paper dolls. Who cares if the boy has polka dot boots on and a weird color hair? The more different, the more fun, just let yourself go and see what you can come up with! This is good advice for an adult artist, think like a child and just paint it, go for the experience, try different colors, textures. The child is there, it is just many times deeply hidden. Remember Picasso’s famous quote: “Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up.”
