Inspiration Thursday, New Surfaces
I have had to do many annoying and unnecessary errands this week that seemed to make me waste tons of time with traffic, construction in so many streets, you get the picture. I finally got in my studio today, cleaned it up and began to think what I was going to work on next. A few weeks ago I bought some new surfaces to try my watercolors on. I usually paint on 140 lb. cold pressed watercolor paper, but I thought it would be fun and challenging to paint on some new and quirky surfaces. The one I tried today was clayboard. It is actually made of clay and is treated for watercolor.
It was fun to paint on! It seems to absorb the paint rather quickly, but keeps a lot of color showing through. A bit challenging, though, in that if you make a mistake it is next to impossible to remove it.
Made my day much brighter after painting!
