Pick a theme, pears!!

Thinking of new ideas for painting is always a challenge. One device that has helped me is to pick a theme. I want to make a compilation of my vegetarian recipes & publish them in a cookbook with my watercolors and oils illustrating it. So painting different aspects of food has been very inspiring. I have been trying to think of different things we eat & how I could make a painting out of it.

We like pears, so I have done several paintings with the fun pear in it.

Pears seem to have their own personality. They are alive and humorous, showing off their figure, doing a jig,….wonderful fruit to paint and develop a theme from!!

I like the sound of a cookbook with your artwork in it! That first painting is really inviting and I love the tablecloth pattern -delicate and pretty.
Thank you Leslie! Yes, I am already getting my recipes in order as well as my artwork. I hope to start looking for a publisher sometime during this year. I also love doing paintings with some type of food theme.
I agree, pears do seem to have their own personalities. And your paintings do, too. They’re so lovely. I second Leslie’s comment about liking the idea of your art in a cookbook. They’re all wonderful, and I especially love the simplicity of the bottom pear painting.
