Joyeful One of Kind Friday: Conscious of Your Clothing
Ohhh, I just love this Friday Find of mine!! It makes me want to get up and dance a jig!! My find is a small online boutique full of organic clothing. Conscious Clothing( I love the name!) has clothing made from hemp, organic cotton, and, oh just read what the owner says herself ‘Specializing in hemp, soy, bamboo, organic cotton, wool, and recycled fibers. I believe in making fashions that have a low environmental impact. Conventional cotton is one of the most heavily treated commercial crops in the world. The amount of pesticides and herbicides that go into producing a single T shirt is astounding! Clothing conservation and choosing new fabrics that have been produced sustainably is my goal.
I am a mother of 3 lovely children in Lowell, Michigan. We have a large organic garden and small orchard which sustains our family almost year round. If my hands aren’t sewing, they’re in the dirt!’
I love this mindfulness about what you wear, and artistically done also, what more could a green buyer want?!

Inspiration Thursday: Wellness Retreat
My Thursday posts are about being inspired, inspired to be creative, to respect something or someone enough that I want to emulate them.
Today I am going to mention an event I am involved with that is designed to be inspiring to you, the participant, our Joyeful Kinetics Wellness Retreatt.
My friend, Rebecca Cate,
an accomplished fitness trainer and certified wellness coach is my partner in this venture.
These are the questions you need to ask yourself:
Do you need help reducing the stress in your life?
Do you desperately need a day to yourself to be pampered?
Have you always wanted to do something creative, but don’t know how to go about it?
Do you seem intrigued by the notion of living a life of joy filled with good physical habits, nutrition, and a sense of well being?
If the answer is yes, then this type of retreat is definitely for you. We will spend the day, on October 24 from 10:00- 4:00 in Jenkintown Pa., teaching you techniques to help reduce stress in your life and have a better sense of overall contentment and well being. This will include simple meditation exercises, yoga exercises, nutrition help, creativity coaching, journaling, plus an appointment with our massage therapist, lunch, snacks, and a large goody bag at the end. A day of pampering, we all need that!!

A Day in the Life: Knitting
It is still the lazy days of summer around here. I am getting ready to go away next week and frantically trying to prepare, so it is actually not so lazy for me. Workshops and shows have been taking a lot of my energy, so I have not spent much time in the studio the last week. I have, however, been finishing up a sweater vest that I designed.
I often make a sketch first of a garment I am going to construct. My ideas come from catalogues, magazines, TV, and just plain observing people. I have noticed that ruffles seem to be very big for fall, and I love ruffles!! This vest is knit with a Noro cotton yarn in greens and aquas. It has a double crocheting crew neck with a ruffle up the front.
Will keep you posted to the end!!

Inspiration Thursday: The Ocean in the Morning
I went for a walk in the early morning today at the beach and was so inspired! Here is part of that walk…
Inspiration Thursday: Oil Paints
Ohhhh, painting is so much fun!! I am very fortunate that I can work at what I love, painting. What do I love about it?? I love the colors, the creativity involved, and I like the process of painting itself. If you find something that inspires you, and you work creatively with it, it can only turn into a love affair.
I started painting in watercolors over 23 years ago, which is somewhat unusual. It is often the other way around, oils first, then try watercolors. Watercolor is a difficult medium, one in which you need to learn to control the paint or you will be a very disappointed artist. When I was exclusively painting in watercolor, I was often painting with my friend Rose Naftulin . I ended up posing for her for a large painting she wanted to exhibit in an upcoming gallery show. She painted mainly in oils. I watched her paint while posing and the process seemed so intriguing. “Rose, do you prefer painting oils over watercolors?” I asked her. She then proceeded to expound on how different the two different mediums were, but both were exhilarating to work with. “You should try oils, Joye, they are like painting with butter!”, Rose said. And I did, and Rose is right!! Oils are so smooth and creamy, like playing with paint.
I have recently started an oil painting of a boat scene. Half the fun of beginning this painting was setting up my palette and mixing the paint, so dreamy and creamy!!
It makes applying the paint an experience. Slather, slather, lots of color, and oh yeah make the painting look good
I am in the middle of this painting, but here is the progress so far, the red is the underpainting.
Stay tuned, the finished painting will be up soon!

Joyeful Friday Find: Creative Every Day
I found a soul mate of a blog, Creative Every Day. When living a creative life, it is so comforting and invigorating to join a community of like minded creative people. It helps to spur you on when other people share their ideas and projects.
Leah, the writer of this blog, has started a creative everyday challenge that I have joined.
Every month there is a theme to our creative projects, this month it is Bliss.
Bliss, happiness, being ecstatic over something. Well, right now I am full of bliss over the ocean where I spend a lot of my time. I am painting a series of paintings about the ocean.
What is your bliss and how can you incorporate a creative project around this love?
