New Business Owner

I have been a small business owner for a total of 3 weeks and 1 day. This job has enhanced my life. I feel changed physically, mentally and emotionally. Physically, I was exhausted the first 2 weeks, and hungry, starving actually. It is not that it is a physically challenging job, quite the contrary, and I work out 6 days a week! I found out, much to my surprise, that such a drastic change in my schedule and routine made my body tired and burn calories. Mentally, I have had to remain super focused and organized to keep my inventory straight, as well as my artists. I now have 23 that I represent!

I now have enormous respect for the small business owner who has succeeded for more than a year!!
Then there is the emotional content of the business. I really and honestly am filled with pride over my artists and their work. I wrote my first commission checks this weekend and it gave me such pleasure to pay these beautiful people. The vast majority of my artists have never sold in a shop before. They are all local, some shy, insecure, critical, but all excellent artists. I am so happy I can give them a venue to show their talents.
Now to start my first whole month of being in business, April…
