Inspiration Thursday: The Ocean in the Morning
I went for a walk in the early morning today at the beach and was so inspired! Here is part of that walk…
Inspiration Thursday: Clouds
Ohhh, I love to look at clouds! Maybe it is because I have been near the ocean more this summer and have been looking at the big sky. But clouds are so cool. They come in all sizes and shapes, are different everyday, change with the sun, the wind, the rain….
You can lay on your back and gaze at them and watch them change shapes. Or, you can imagine what they look like: a rabbit, no an old man, no a cat, no a blanket. You can fly through them or look at them from both sides.
Weather comes from them. They can be scary
soothing
beautiful
awesome
or just part of your wonderful day at the beach.
The great part about clouds is that they are here everyday and are everywhere on this earth, so enjoy!

Lots of Excitement Going On
As my friend Edna says at the end of every email she sends, “Today is a good day!” I had a wonderful day today enjoying our beach and visiting with friends.
Looks pretty magical, huh? I have to confess that I manipulated this photo in one of my new iPhone apps(tee hee!)
Lots of exciting things are happening here at Joyefulart! First of all, I am participating in a Giveaway at Gussi Sews. Starting tomorrow, Maggie is having a huge Giveaway where she is giving something away every hour. She does this to promote new blogs so go over and visit her tomorrow and enter to win a small print from Joyefulart!
You guessed it, you may win a giclee of my watercolor, “Smiling Faces”, pretty cool, huh?
I also have started a Featured Artwork of the Month, which you can see at the right side bar. Every month I will have a sale of a special giclee print or original just for that month. This month it is one of my favorites:
This is a special painting to me. I did this watercolor of our Margate Beach in April when we were alone on the beach and it was oh so tranquil. The original has been sold, but 2 print sizes are available and both are on sale, check it out! Gallery Shop.
I am also teaching a fun and playful Wet into Wet Watercolor Class at the Ventnor Cultural Arts Center in Ventnor, New Jersey, call 609-823-7952 if interested in registering.
Lots of new events and artwork will be coming to Joyefulart, so stay tuned. Just a hint, an upcoming Wellness and Creativity Retreat will be given in the Philadelphia area in the fall by myself and my good friend Rebecca who is an expert on culinary arts and anything exercise related. So much more is coming so keep in touch and stay creative!!

Joyeful One of a Kind Friday: Music Influences Literature
I absolutely love it when people use one art form to influence another. Writing poetry from admiring a painting, composing a piece of music to go with a dance, painting an illustration to go into a book. It is creativity at its finest.
I heard about an author the other day on NPR that created a story after listening to a piece of music. The music is played by Edgar Meyers and Joshua Bell and is a haunting and emotional melody called “Short Trip Home”.
Michael Koryta is the author and based his book, “So Cold The River” on this beautiful tune. To Quote Mr. Koryta, “The song itself is just scorchingly beautiful,” he says. “It’s an Americana-, folk-inspired piece, but there’s this joined quality of beauty and sorrow” From the NPR site article: ” Just as he tried to imagine the story behind the hotel, Koryta says he also tried to imagine the story behind the song and, in doing so, landed on the image of a Depression-era prodigy violinist busking in tattered clothes with his violin case open for donations.
He says the performer’s history and motives, which play a significant role in the novel’s narrative, all arose from the song itself.”
I am planning on reading this fascinating book and have already purchased the song. I wonder if I can learn to play it on my violin, gotta try, gotta try.

Joyeful Friday Find: Creative Every Day
I found a soul mate of a blog, Creative Every Day. When living a creative life, it is so comforting and invigorating to join a community of like minded creative people. It helps to spur you on when other people share their ideas and projects.
Leah, the writer of this blog, has started a creative everyday challenge that I have joined.
Every month there is a theme to our creative projects, this month it is Bliss.
Bliss, happiness, being ecstatic over something. Well, right now I am full of bliss over the ocean where I spend a lot of my time. I am painting a series of paintings about the ocean.
What is your bliss and how can you incorporate a creative project around this love?
