Hawaiian Week: Part 2
Got up this morning to a bright blue sky, fresh wind, birds chirping and ready for yoga! Great way to start the day, especially outdoors with the Pacific Ocean in the distance!
What a sky!! We decided to explore the famous Maui Up Country and drove to a Lavender Farm. Unbelievable view, awesome flowers(discovered that I have lavender growing in my Margate NJ yard, who would have known??), and leisurely but gorgeous trails.
Then off to the Botanical Gardens down the road for another set of leisurely, but gorgeous trails.
Hawaii is known for its’ flowers. Everywhere you walk, drive, or bike there are more flowers. The trees, the bushes, even weeds have beautiful flowers peeking through!! Truly inspiring.

Inspiration Thursday: The Ocean in the Morning
I went for a walk in the early morning today at the beach and was so inspired! Here is part of that walk…
A Day in the Life: New Ocean Oil
I have gotten back into my studio after being out of town visiting my sick mom. Doing something creative like painting always perks me up.
So I finished and signed my sailboat oil:
I also made progress on my floral watercolor:
Getting back into the groove and feeling good!

A Day in the Life, My Ocean Series
As you have probably figured out, I love to paint. As a working artist, I always have to think of new things to paint. I have mentioned in previous posts several ideas for coming up with new ideas. Some of these are: keeping a memory diary, jotting down ideas in a journal through-out the day, finding awesome photos to work from, and to pick a theme. It’s summer and my family loves to visit the Jersey shore, so what better theme than the ocean?
I started painting yesterday. Grabbing a small watercolor canvas, I perused my photos and found my Margate in April photo, from our visit on a spectacular spring day in, you guessed it, April!
To me this picture evokes a serenity of the beach. I was walking on the boardwalk and enjoying the calm. No people, just the birds and the breeze. This is what the ocean is about to me, calmness.
Picking up my paintbrush, I looked for the hidden colors only an artist can see.
I worked on and off all day on this and I love it! It really feels like the Margate beach to me in the spring.
