A Day in the Life: Oil Pastels

Yay! I have had some small increments in time of painting in my studio! I am working on a vignette of some poppies in oil pastels on gessoed illustration board.

I felt like using some bright red, what do you think? I love the hand of the painter that shows through in oil pastels. So fun, it is similar to coloring with lipstick. I needed some fun coloring, don’t we all?

A Day in the Life: Oh, Lots of Things

I finally got into my painting studio, after having several weeks where I didn’t paint. It felt good! First, I did my ritual of cleaning and straightening up to get myself organized. I made a list of pieces I want to work on, then I dove in.
I began by sketching on gesso illustration board. I hope to make some figure studies in oil pastel, good start.

Then I worked on a previous started oil pastel of a floral, fun!

Oh, and then there are the cool new scarves I am making. Had a good day!
