Food is Good, Fruit Juice

Fruit juice sounds like such a simple common drink, but when you make your own, it is a totally different animal! Lately, I have gotten into a juice craze. Don’t know what started it, just wanted to quench my thirst with something healthy, I guess. I bought a juicer a few years ago which I have sporadically used. It is somewhat of a pain to clean, plus get all the fruit ready. However, I have made it a routine and have gotten into the rhythm of it. But what you must realize, is that drinking a glass of freshly squeezed pear and apple juice is like drinking the essence of the fruit. Kind of like eating a tomato from your garden in July instead of store bought in December. Pure, unadulterated fruit in a glass, nothing more.
So, first start with the fruit, basically anything, except something mushy like a banana, won’t go through the juicer without clogging it.

Apples and Pears

I made my juice from apples and pears. You don’t need to peel or seed them, just wash them. Run them through the juicer, then clean it immediately, or believe me, you will regret it.
The juice can be strained to get extra pulp out, but I keep the pulp in, which rises to the top. Just stir it before drinking.
